Our History

Tequila Ocho was created by the Tequila Master Carlos Camarena, in partnership with Tomás Estes "Ambassador of Tequila" in the European Union. It is made in "La Alteña" Distillery, where are produced other brands such as: El Tesoro de Don Felipe, Tequila Tapatío and Villalobos, belonging to the Camarena family since 1937. This family is one of the few that still make tequila in the artisanal way. All tequila made is produced exclusively with agave of their own fields, a fact that insurance the qualit of the raw material.

  • The process for this tequila was chosen from the sample eight of a total of twelve. These samples were created by Carlos Camarena for Tomas Estes with some process variations, remaining as a winner the one that highlighted the essence of agave and its terroir.
  • Approximately the agave takes 8 years to mature.
  • On average, 8 kilos of agave are needed to produce one liter of tequila.
  • The production process takes approximately 8 days from the jima (harvest) to the distillation to obtain blanco tequila.
  • The Camarena family is currently in the eight-decade of tequila production.
  • Ocho Reposado is aged for 8 weeks and 8 days.
  • When choosing the name for this new project, it was decided to leave it as simple as it was born. Tequila Muestra (sample) No. Ocho.
